about
Aloha Kai ʻĀina is launching a community-focused program to improve food security in Hawai‘i. This initiative aims to strengthen local communities through cooperation, education, and sustainable methods. By uniting residents, farmers, and organizations, the program builds resilience in food systems, ensuring access to fresh, healthy food.
This program promotes food security and environmental sustainability in Honolulu by caring for and harvesting fruit trees on private and public land.
It collaborates with local residents, volunteers, and food security groups to reduce food waste by finding and picking unused fruit. Through tree care, pruning, and fruit sharing, it supplies fresh produce to families in need and food pantries in the area.
In addition to food access, the program focuses on environmental education, engaging community members in sustainable practices and conservation.
The ultimate goal is to create a self-sustaining model for urban agriculture that supports local food systems and empowers residents to manage their local resources for a multi-generational outlook.
